About VIN Brasil
What does VIN Brasil do?
VIN Brasil has been a pioneer in automotive labels since 1994. It manufactures VIN etching masks (chapelonas) for vehicle windows, self-adhesive destructible labels (ETA) and white labels, as well as label solutions for other markets and flexographic services.
Where is VIN Brasil located and which regions does it serve?
The headquarters are located in São Paulo, and services are available throughout Brazil.
Who are VIN Brasil's clients?
Automakers, importers and Brazil’s leading vehicle customs-clearance companies. VIN Brasil serves about 85% of the imported vehicle market and 20% of domestic production. See Our Clients.
Does VIN Brasil serve other segments besides the automotive industry?
Yes. We make labels for shipping, packaging warnings, product identification, security seals, laboratory tests and healthcare. See Products.
Destructible Labels (ETA)
What is a destructible label?
It is a self-adhesive label made of security material that breaks if removal is attempted.
Which CONTRAN resolution regulates the ETA?
CONTRAN Resolution No. 968/2022. It came into force on July 1, 2022, and its requirements apply to vehicles produced or imported from January 1, 2025, with full or partial early adoption permitted (art. 49).
What must the ETA include under the resolution?
It must contain at least the VIS, be self-adhesive, be destructible if removal is attempted, be weather-resistant, and contain at least one security element in addition to the VIS (art. 8).
Are the labels delivered already printed?
There are two supply options: pre-printed with the VIN, from a chassis list sent with the order; or blank, for printing at the customer’s plant, with Zebra printers on loan and technical support, maintenance and supplies included.
Is VIN Brasil's ETA certified?
Yes. The ETA has laboratory certifications from MAEDA Soluções Técnicas, IPT – Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnológicas, and LENCO – Centro de Controle Tecnológico, and is resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and weather conditions. See Certificates.
VIN etching on glass
What is a chapelona (VIN etching mask)?
It is the mask used to etch the last 8 digits of the VIN onto the vehicle windows, as required by CONTRAN Resolution No. 691/88, which mandates marking the VIN on automobiles. VIN Brasil produces chapelona formats tailored to each automaker.
How does supply work?
There are two options: supply of the labels, produced from the chassis list sent by email, with quality inspection and delivery on the agreed date; or production at the customer’s plant, with equipment installed by VIN Brasil on the production line.
How long does the etching take?
Up to 50 seconds per vehicle on all 6 windows, using VIN Brasil's etching paste. Only 1 or 2 special labels are needed per vehicle.
Is the process sustainable?
Yes. The equipment is developed by VIN Brasil and does not release toxic gases into the environment.
